Wood of South America- with FSC label (web site’s photos)
A very beautiful reddish brown wood with sometimes dark stripes. Very hard and heavy. Very strong, with a high impact strength. One of the best wood for wooden weapons and in particular for the sword schools with heavy knocks.
Weight: 0,90
A very warm wood who gives very good sensations in your hands.
Native European white wood. It was once the main source of hard wood in France. It has probably the best strength to weight ratio around here. It has been used for tool handles.  Heavy and hard but not as much as jatoba is, its great resilience makes it a good choice for all the martial practices and in particular Aïkido.
Weight: 0,80-0,85
It’s the same species than the European white ash, but the name refers to the colorings of the wood. Some tree develops a heart with dark brown stripes alternating with the yellowish-whites stripes of the other zones. Very beautiful.
Flexible and resilient, it’s a little more heavy and hard than the white ash.
Weight: 0,75-0,80
